Christian Cabrera

Mr Christian Cabrera has a Masters in Psychology (Forensic) and is a qualified Forensic Psychologist with over 15 years of experience. This has included working across a variety of forensic and clinical settings specialising in working with individuals with cognitive deficits or intellectual disabilities.

He has experience working across government agencies, non-government organisations, custodial environments and private business. Over this period, he has gained diverse practice in the assessment and treatment of juvenile and adult offenders specialising in working with sexual and violent offenders where he has assisted in the development and implementation of offence specific programs.

Over the past several years working as a Senior Specialist Psychologist, specific focus has been on implementing evidence-based practices in the forensic disability area working closely with individuals with intellectual disabilities, service providers, support systems and implementation of therapeutic interventions for this population. He has developed and implemented clinical governance frameworks assisting in the development of forensic practice across programs.

Christian has been dedicated in keeping up to date with the latest research and innovations in the forensic disability area. He has demonstrated skills and experience in building strong collaborative partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. He is an insightful professional who holds full program accountability with experience in managing, supervising and mentoring teams towards common goals.

Drawing upon years of experience, Christian balances his forensic assessment work by conducting therapy in both general and forensic contexts. He is proficient at using varied therapeutic approaches in an integrative manner, where treatment is tailored to suit each individual client and their needs. He utilises an evidence-based approach by drawing upon treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour and multi-systemic therapies and has experience with offence specific (violence, sexual, drug & alcohol use), offence related (trauma) and clinical (anxiety, depression) interventions to both individual and groups.
