Treatment Groups

Sexual or Violent Offending

Consilium Psychology has experience in conducting group based custodial and community-based offence specific treatments. In addition, we have experience in the development and implementation of a range of therapeutic group programs for generalist offenders.

Currently we have two programs developed to meet the treatment needs of individuals charged with sexual or violent offences. Either program can be completed in individual or group formats dependant on the needs of the client, cognitive functioning, community support and stakeholder involvement.

Emotion Regulation Skills System

Consilium Psychology provide individual and group treatment specifically for those with a borderline or intellectual disability who have difficulties in managing their emotions. The emotion regulation skills system was built from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) concepts and in many places are direct adaptions of the standard DBT curriculum.

This is a 12-week program which is encouraged to be completed over three to four cycles. The simplified materials and systematic teaching approach help people off all abilities surmount intellectual, emotional and/or behavioural barriers that may hinder generalisation of new adaptive behaviours.

Referrals for offence-specific treatment can be made directly by the individual, a family member, allied health professional, mental health professionals, solicitors/lawyers/ barristers, Courts, Community Corrections staff, Department of Communities & Justice, Juvenile Justice NSW.

Please contact Consilium Psychology to discuss a possible referral and current treatment groups being held.
